HIMF Audio files - January

On request, and only too happy to oblige.  Heritage North was asked to record and host some audio files from recent HIghlands and Islands Museum Forum Meetings. This would, we reckoned, go some way to helping those who could not make the meeting, not least due to the excessive distances that may have to be travelled. It would also act as an aide memoire to those who could make it.

The content is primarily of interest to the museum specialist in the HIghlands, but there is much to attract those from further afield. The generally interested listener will also find some interest as to what goes on behind the scenes at the museum.

A mixed bag, I have tried to keep one file per speaker. However, in some cases the sound quality is not up to the usually high Heritage North standards. Give the files a minute or two to let the mike settle. I apologise, and promise to do better next time, if I am invited . I would also be very pleased to perform this service for anyone wanting a memorial of their meeting, or to inform interested parties who could not make it on the day.

The first file (1 - Roddy Ross) is the Highland Adult Literacy Project worker talking about how musuems can aid in adult literacy work.

The second file (2 - Judy Menabney) is Highland Council's Principal Cultural Officer talking about the implications of the Gaelic Language Act (2005) for the museums sector in the Highlands and Islands.

The third file (3 - Susie Hillhouse SMC) is the SMC's Accreditation Manager discussing the new standards and the process required to achieve them. A resource of ongoing usefulness. Here is Susie's profile (http://www.mda.org.uk/staff-sh)

I would be delighted to get any comments on this system, and its utility.
