On the 14th of November 2008, Skills Building for the Future held a conference amongst it's stakeholders to discuss the legacy of the scheme and to discuss posibilities for the Heritage Sector of the Highlands and Islands. Below you have access to various multimedia files of the event.

Celebrated journalist and author Neal Ascherson accepted the invitation to be guest speaker, and shared his unique and provocative vision on the future of heritage, with special, but not exclusive reference to Scotland. A full and varied range of speakers are represented on the selection of audio files. Firstly Steve Callaghan of the National Trust for Scotland, discusses the history of the SBFF project. In the second audio file, Helen Smith of Rowan Tree discusses the management of the project and how they managed to fulfill their remit, as operating the project on behalf of the partnership.

The first panel discussion, "Applying lessons from RDCF projects", was chaired by Prof. Jim Hunter. Speakers were Fiona McOwan of MGS, formerly the SMC. Pheobe Lowe, of the Scottish Borders Council/East of Scotland Museums Partnership gave us a comparative case study, whilst Judy Menabney of the Highland Council offered a local authority take on working with the RDCF.

The second panel discussion, "New Maps: New Communities", was chaired by Robert Livingston of HI-Arts. Donna Heddle of Orkney College/UHI gave us her take on the future of the Heritage Sector. David Adams McGilp shared his thoughts on a tourism and revenue model. Frank Rennie, of Lews Castle College/UHI talked about how new technology could be used to build communities of interest.
