Practical Skills - Panels and Labels

This is a session demonstrating how to design labels and panels to reach a wide range of visitors, and how to produce them to a high standard in-house. It is aimed at staff and volunteers responsible for setting up displays who want to add to their skills in this field.

We will cover:

·         Content: identifying themes and stories, breaking subjects up into sections or layers, using illustrations

·         Writing style: using language to engage the reader, writing at different levels, getting the length right

·         Design: how simple design ideas for layout and colour can help get your message across

·         Guidelines for maximum legibility: colours, fonts, print size, sentence length

·         Materials, equipment and techniques for producing neat, professional and durable results
