Documentation Planning

Overview:

This is a practical course giving participants the opportunity to begin work on a documentation plan for their own organisation, with guidance from the trainer. It is an intermediate level course for participants with a basic knowledge of documentation. Ideally, you will have attended an MDA Documentation for Accreditation training day.

Participants examine practical strategies for reducing backlogs and discuss a range of successful project management techniques. Time is given to creating and reviewing participants' own plans.

Topics covered include SPECTRUM, the Museum Accreditation Scheme, identifying museum backlogs and discussion of participants' own documentation plans.

 Objectives:

By the end of the course participants will have:
• Considered the importance of good documentation practice;
• Understood the principles and use of SPECTRUM;
• Defined a museum backlog;
• Discussed backlog case studies;
• Started work on a documentation plan for their own organisation.
