| Description: | This exhibition commemorates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Shetland Women's Suffrage Society, one of 400 branches across Britain. Like the national organisation it was mostly comprised of middle-class women, but it was moderate and had only 20 members before being disbanded in 1919 as women over 30 were given the vote. | Description: | Set on the waterfront, within a restored 19th century dock, the Shetland Museum and Archives is the starting point for anyone who wants to know more about Shetland. <br><br> With over 3000 artefacts encompasing all aspects of Shetland's heritage and culture and an archive facility offering access to a wealth of local history material, it introduces Shetland's story and provides a gateway to other local sites of interest. <br><br> There is also a cafe restaurant, auditorium, learning and research rooms, temporary exhibition space and shop.
