Nunton Steadings is an 18th century farm steadings set within the crofting township of Nunton on the Isle of Benbecula. For years the steadings was used by the crofters of Nunton for the housing of cattle and animal feed storage. In the late 20th century the buildings received funding from sources such as Historic Scotland, Heritage Lottery for renovation. The Steadings were renovated with the people of Benbecula in mind and now hosts a museum, art gallery, cafe, gift shop and function room. The buildings are now owned by the Uist buildings preservation trust who "Protect the architechtural history of the Uists and Barra" The gallery allows arts from the Hebrides to be viewed in the perfect surroundings. |
