Description:

The Highland Livestock Heritage Society was set up in 2004 with the aim of creating an exhibition and archive at Dingwall Mart about droving and the history of livestock breeding in the Highlands and Islands and its contribution to the livestock industry throughout the world.

The exhibition and archive are now set up, and we are now raising funds for a sculpture of a bull and drover to be positioned outside Dingwall Mart.

Exhibition free, open 10-4 Monday to Friday. Facilities: Parking, Cafe, Toilets, Disabled toilets, Baby changing

The exhibition traces the fortunes of the livestock industry from earliest times (1359) to the present day, and focuses particularly on droving and the stories of individual drovers. There is also information on breeding livestock and some successful livestock breeders of the area, also links with the livestock industry overseas
